At 豆包成人版 Clubhouse, we are a small but growing community of caring individuals who believe that no one should face mental illness or recovery alone. Here, members and staff work side by side, supporting one another, celebrating successes, and helping each other through challenges. We look out for one another because everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and welcomed.
The clubhouse program works to address both the lack of access to mental health treatment and essential services like employment.
The clubhouse model functions around a 鈥渨ork-ordered,鈥� day where members engage in a structured set of daily tasks as a mode to highlight their strengths rather than their weakness. These tasks can be anything from making meals to cleaning the clubhouse.
Members therefore work every day to create meaning and community for themselves and the others around them. This form of rehabilitation, functions to provide members with greater confidence and self-esteem to build basic workplace skills and potentially move forward towards re-entering the workplace.

We do this by seeking to facilitate for those living with a mental health concern, an inclusive community that emphasizes their strengths and not their weaknesses as a mode for strength and empowerment.
Benefits
The primary benefits of the Clubhouse to members and the community are to provide meaningful activity that help people with a mental health concern stay out of hospitals and off the street by having the opportunity to achieve social, financial, and vocational goals. Current research on existing Clubhouses have shown the benefits of the Clubhouse model and the positive results that have been achieved.

Higher Employment:
For Fountain House in New York City, the oldest and longest running clubhouse, 30% of its members are employed, as compared to鈥�15%鈥痮f American adults with serious mental health concerns (source: Clubhouse International). Additionally, studies have shown that the Clubhouse model produces higher rates of employment and higher earnings than other programs offered for people with mental illness (source: NIH).

Reduced Incarcerations:
Criminal justice system involvement has been found to be substantially diminished during and after Clubhouse membership. An estimated 24% of members have a history of incarceration and justice involvement, after joining, recidivism rates are less than 5%. This coupled with our therapeutic court programs (some of them rendering a 90%+ reduction in recidivism for example) we are confident that we could make significant progress in the recidivism and incarceration rates with clubhouse members. It cost $42,318 in 2019 to incarcerate one person for one year in Washington State. In comparison, it cost $5,579 for one Fountain House member to access Fountain House鈥檚 employment, education, wellness services and community for mutual support for one year.

Improved Well-Being:
Compared with individuals receiving services as usual, Clubhouse members were significantly more likely to report that they had close friendships and someone they could rely on when they needed help.

Increased Stability and Housing:
99% of Fountain House members are stably housed. 40% join with a prior history of homelessness. It costs $140,000 in 2019 to house one person in the NYC shelter system for one year. In comparison, it cost $25,870 for one Fountain House member to access all of Fountain House鈥檚 services in addition to safe, supported housing (source: Fountain House).

Reduced Hospitalization:
High utilizers of New York State Medicaid services have a 21% decrease in total cost of care after enrolling in Fountain House (Source: Fountain House).

"What Bridgeway Clubhouse does for me. It gives me a reason to get out of bed early because I feel needed to help the clubhouse with the WOD jobs. I鈥檓 getting to know other members too. Recently I received my Washington department of health food card handlers permit and I鈥檝e been making homemade lunches in the kitchen, I鈥檓 not the only one that cooks. I am a detailed oriented person, and I love to cook, communicate with others and I love researching information on my personal computer at home. Just to name a few things. I am proud to have worked with the City of Marysville to get our street sign changed across from the clubhouse so Emergency Services can always find us."
